DIY Stamped Metal Bottle Cap Jewelry

Stamped Metal Bottle Cap Jewelry

Happy Thursday, Doyennes!

I’ve got a fun, fast and fabulous Stamped Metal Bottle Cap Jewelry DIY for ImpressArt today!  You can get the step by step instructions on their website.  These are silly easy to make.  It’s all about bold, fun, vintage graphics and stamped text.  I love these  “Ski”  caps, I found them in a mix pack at Hobby Lobby in the paper crafting section.  You can find vintage bottle caps on Etsy and eBay too.  The really old caps have cork in the lids, these aren’t that old, but still fun.  Even new caps work well, just look for bold and simple graphics!  Also, if you’re using new caps, be sure to hammer the edges out using a rubber mallet or it’s not going to be very comfortable!  I used an electric drill with a 1/16″ bit to add holes for jump rings and ear wires.  This is a great way to upcycle and make a style statement at the same time.

There’s a funky little bottle cap bib necklace in my book The Impatient Beader Gets Inspired!.  This book is jam packed with whimsical mixed media jewelry and accessory projects.  Plus it’s got great tips on how to find design inspiration in the world around you.   This is probably my favorite of all of my books.

So, Doyennes, do you like bottle cap jewelry or is it a little too kitschy for your style?

xoxo,
Madge

I bought a little gadget called a euro punch!
I got it on etsy. It punches the little jumping holes and its not electric. No drill needed. I’ve had mine about 4 years and its as simple as squeezing a stapler, even easier!

Yup, I own that tool and I LOVE IT, but it won’t work with bottle caps. I tried. The crimped edges are too wide to fit the jaws of the tool, so in this case an electric drill works best. I have a flexible shaft, but a hand held tool like a Dremel would work too!
